1. Sample, don't mix

The eyedropper is faster and more accurate than eyeballing a colour ever will be. Sample the exact surface directly behind where you plan to stand — not a similar-looking one across the room. Light shifts across a stage, and "almost the same marble" reads as a smudge to a hunter scanning from a distance.

2. Spot → paint → pose, in that order

Pick your hiding spot first, then paint for that exact spot, then settle into the pose. Painting first and hunting for a matching wall afterwards is how you end up as a brick-patterned figure leaning against marble while the round timer runs down.

3. Save your palettes before the round starts

Build and save the palettes you use most before the hiding phase is under way, not while a hunter is already walking the halls. Loading a saved palette takes a moment; mixing one from scratch takes the part of the round where you are most exposed.

4. Big blocks beat tiny details

A body-wide colour match beats a detailed mural. Hunters scan from across the room, and at that distance one clean block that matches the wall disappears — fine detail just adds edges that catch the eye. Save the brushwork for when the big shapes already match.

The side facing away from your camera is the side you will forget — and the side a hunter walks around. Do your blind side first, while you still have time to rotate and check it, then finish the side you can see.
